The June 2007 meeting of the PBSS was held on June 12th, 2007 at Murray's Delicatessen in the back room and was called to order promptly at 7:05 PM by PBSS President Bill Bentley.
Attendance: Barry Hayes, Bill Bentley, Kerry Lowery and family, & Kel Thomas.
Barry Hayes gave a Treasurer's Report and stated it $434.43 plus $15.00 from Kerry Lowery who paid his 2007 membership, bringing the total to $449.43. This include payment for ladder materials and Walter's survey instruments.
Discussed that Barry made and expenditure of $75.00 for the purchase angle iron and materials for the Ess Cave ladder.
Discussed that we are now in possession of Walter's survey instruments and that Bill Bentley had them. We also inherited a survey book in the deal.
Walter was also given a lifetime membership to the PBSS and is now an honorary member. It was also mentioned that this was given for his many years of hard work keeping the PBSS afloat, being both the Newsletter Editor and Treasurer for many years.
Discussion that if Jacqui Thomas was out any money to purchase gifts to the winners of the Hercules contest at the Ess Cave Open House. She should let Barry Hayes know so she can be reimbursed.
Old Business: Discussed the success of the SWR Memorial Day Spring Regional held at Fort Stanton Cave. Kel Thomas reported that it was attended by approximately 40 cavers from all over and that Fort Stanton Cave was a cold, dark, muddy and a light sucking $%_)+*+()*# Cave. He also mentioned that the BLM had made the campground there more family friendly, with cement pads and awnings and stuff.
New Business: Discussed the upcoming Guads trip to Spanish Moss Pit Cave, Spanish Moss Cave and Lone Madrone Cave, scheduled for June 16th, 2007. Jon did not show up at the meeting so we know nothing about the details of the trip?
Discussed the upcoming PBSS Garage sale scheduled for June 29th and 30th, 2007.
(Barry reported: The PBSS garage sale will be held at my home. 1912 Santa Rosa, Odessa, TX
Friday and Saturday, June 29th and June 30th. From 7 AM until 12 Noon.
All revenue generated from this garage sale will be donated to the PBSS. If anyone has items they wish to donate to this garage sale, they can bring them to me at the meeting this Tuesday night. Or, you can bring them to the address shown above anytime before June 25th. If you have any items that you think should be listed in the newspaper add, please let Donna know by June 25th. (432)333-8856.)
Discussed the upcoming July NSS National Convention. Looks as if Jacqui and Kel will be the only PBSS members attending.
Discussed the tentatively scheduled the Clark Ranch dig trip for August 11th, 2007.
Discussed that September was open for a cave trip. But there is a SWR Regional scheduled for the Labor Day weekend someplace far away.
Discussed that October was the TCR scheduled for October 19th through the 21st of 2007. Bill reported that the PBOC has a trip for Black & Cottonwood Caves for October 6th and 7th, 2007 and will need help to lead groups.
Discussed that November 10th, 2007 was scheduled for Barry's annual McKittrick Hill birthday trip. ( I think he will be 28 years old)
Discussed that December 15th, 2007 was scheduled for the PBSS annual Christmas party. We need a place and mentioned were Amazing Maze Cave, Ess Cave, Caverns of Sonora or someone's house would be a good place to have the party.
It was also mentioned by Kel Thomas that PBSS Vice President Jacqui Thomas missed the meeting because she was busy teaching a Boy Scout group near Ft McKavett, in a vertical workshop and that she was getting stuff they had discarded, being things like small caving helmets and harnesses. The Thomas family will hold onto it for when the PBSS has kids along that need small gear.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM by Bill Bentley.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Bentley
PBSS President 2006-2007
